Belize Prime Minister Encourages McAfee to Talk to Police in Murder Case

Belize Prime Minister Dean Barrow encouraged computer security pioneer John McAfee to talk to police in a murder case he`s been allegedly involved in recently, saying the security pioneer is “bonkers” and “extremely paranoid,” according to Reuters.

“I don’t want to be unkind, but he seems to be extremely paranoid – I would go so far as to say bonkers,” Barrow told the international press agency. “He ought to man up and respect our laws and go in and talk to the police.”

Authorities are still searching for McAfee to question him about the murder of his American neighbor, Gregory Viant Faull, with whom the antivirus founder had a fight over his dogs.

“You can say I’m paranoid about it, but they will kill me, there is no question,” McAfee recently told Wired magazine. “They’ve been trying to get me for months. I am not well liked by the prime minister.”

Dean Barrow denied even meeting McAfee, and argued the security pioneer isn`t yet accused of any charges. “The fact that this is smeared across international headlines means the police would have to act extremely cautiously in the full glare of the public spotlight,” Belize`s prime minister added.

The location of the inventor of the eponymous company is now unknown. McAfee has a long history with the Central American country, which already suspected him of running a drug lab, and accused him of illegal possession of firearms.

McAfee made a fortune of about $100 million by 1994, when he sold off his last shares of the security company, now owned by Intel Corp. The antivirus founder moved to Belize a couple of years ago.
