Google Helping Webmasters with "How Not to Get Hacked" Tips

Google launched a new campaign aimed at helping webmasters to quickly recover from hacked websites. Posting tutorials, tips and tricks and other information that could speed up recovery, Google`s initiative is the latest in a line of anti-hacking campaigns.

Teaching website owners how to bounce back in the event of a hack, Google`s “Webmasters help for hacked sites” website covers topics ranging from why hackers choose to start hacking to what could happen to a compromised website.

Google Helping Webmasters with "How Not to Get Hacked" Tips“Every day, cybercriminals compromise thousands of websites. Hacks are often invisible to users, yet remain harmful to anyone viewing the page — including the site owner,” wrote Google on the campaign website. “For example, unbeknownst to the site owner, the hacker may have infected their site with harmful code, which in turn can record keystrokes on visitors’ computers, stealing login credentials for online banking or financial transactions.”

The campaign is also designed to enable webmasters to identify malware infestations and completely clean compromised websites to restore them to their original state.

Providing step-by-step instructions on how to react in case of a breach, Google`s website features tips and tricks for setting up server configurations, dealing with SQL injection attacks, dealing with code injection, and more.

Google`s initiative to weed-out hack attacks and optimize recovery started by giving monetary compensation to tech aficionados who found glitches in their web services.
