US Navy Hit by 30 Cyber Attacks Every Second

The US Navy is hit by 30 cyber-attacks per second, or 110,000 every hour, according to HP, the company managing the Navy Marine Corps Intranet contract.

US Navy Hit by 30 Cyber Attacks Every Second“For the US Navy we provide the network for 800,000 men and woman in 2,000 locations around the world, protecting them against 110,000 cyber attacks every hour,” HP`s head of enterprise services Mike Nefkens said, as quoted by V3. “This means the attacks average out at about 1,833 per minute or 30 every second.”

The growing number of high profile hackings has prompted major governments to announce they`re taking cyber-security seriously. While the FBI said it`s strengthening its cyber-operations as e-threats grew even more complex and sophisticated, British officials recently admitted their infrastructure is targeted by hostile states.

The UK government released new measures to protect Britons and companies from hackings and attempts to steal trade secrets, and announced they are recruiting more skilled security experts to help protect the nation’s infrastructure.

HP has been managing the US Navy`s transition to a Next Generation Enterprise Network since 2010 in a $3bn worth contract.
